Volunteer Opportunities Available

Puppeteers - Volunteers are needed to help The Arc present a disability awareness show for Chester County elementary school students. This is an ideal opportunity for a performer with daytime availability and an interest in working with children. For more information, call Stephanie Cory at 610-696-8090, ext. 210.

Classroom Assistants - Two volunteers are needed to provide support to the ABBLE Program, a classroom-based program for two-year-olds with autism located in Downingtown. Availability most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 12:00pm and a Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance are required. For more information, call Kathy Fox at 610-696-8090 ext. 339.

Advocacy Program Volunteers - Volunteers are needed to help advocacy programs in a variety of capacities. Many of these tasks can be completed at home with the option of working from The Arc's West Chester office.

Committee Members - The Arc has numerous committees that need the expertise of volunteers from the community. Committees usually meet monthly during night or daytime hours convenient to the members. Some areas of need include persons with human resources skills to assist the Personnel Committee; accountants or financial analysts to assist the Finance Committee; and marketing or fundraising professionals to assist the Community Relations and Development Committees. Recreation Assistance - The Recreation program seeks volunteers of all ages to assist with weekly social gatherings on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings based at The Arc's main site in West Goshen. Opportunities are available for weekend activities that include dances, dinners, sporting events, community outings and other fun-filled entertainment. Volunteer teen counselors are also needed for Camp Safari one week in June and August. For more information, call Lori Meyers at 610-696-8090, ext. 205

Water Experience Sessions - First Step Early Intervention program seeks volunteers to assist with water experience sessions at West Chester Y on Airport Road each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers, under the guidance of skilled staff and therapists, will assist preschool children who have disabilities, ages 3 to 5, with swimming activities.
