At the order of Governor Tom Wolf, The Arc of Chester County Preschool, ABBLES, Adult Transportation Services & Recreation events suspended until further notice. The agency will continue to operate, however effective immediately we will not hold meetings at our office or allow any visitors to come to our facility until further notice.

The Arc of Chester County is closely monitoring the changing and evolving information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We are working around the clock to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those we serve in The Arc community. Our Program Directors are working closely with their teams to continue offering the uninterrupted services and assistance our population relies on, especially those with disabilities. We are following the directives issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the US Department of State, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Arc will continue monitoring advisories and government directives as they relate to the pandemic and keep you posted of any changes. Stay safe and be well.

Share Your Talents as a Volunteer

Whether you’re looking for an ongoing, year-round volunteer opportunity for yourself or a one-day opportunity for a group, The Arc of Chester County has a fit for you. Our current opportunities include the following:

ABBLE Classroom Assistants – Two volunteers are needed to provide support to the ABBLE program, a classroom-based program for two-year-olds with autism located in The Arc Preschool, West Chester, PA. Availability most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and a Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance are required. For more information, call Judy Glass at 610-696-8090.

Advocacy Program Volunteers – Volunteers are needed to help advocacy programs in a variety of capacities. Many of these tasks can be completed at home with the option of working from The Arc’s West Chester office. Opportunities include updating a monthly e-newsletter and assisting with its distribution and serving as a special education advocate. Committee Members – The Arc has numerous committees that need the expertise of volunteers from the community. Committees usually meet monthly during night or daytime hours convenient to the members. Some areas of need include people with human resources skills to assist the personnel committee; accountants or financial analysts to assist the finance committee; and marketers or fundraisers to assist the community relations and development committees. Children’s Early Learning Program- Children’s Early Learning program seeks volunteers under the guidance of skilled staff and therapists, will assist preschool children who have disabilities, ages 2 to 5, with community outings and activities.  Volunteers are also needed to assist teachers and students with Art and Music Therapy on a weekly basis at The Arc’s Preschool location on Lawrence Drive in West Chester. Community Habilitation Program Assistance- Community Habilitation program seeks volunteers of all ages to assist with weekly recreational and social gathering on Wednesday evenings based at The Arc’s facility in West Chester.  Opportunities are available for weekend activities that include dances, dinners, sporting events, community outings, and other fun-filled entertainment.  Volunteer teen counselors are also needed for one- week summer camps.  Assist camp counselors and Arc staff at week-long summer day camp.  Camp is located at Paradise Farms in Downingtown.  Camps are held one week in June and two weeks in August.  Volunteers hours are from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Administrative Support- Administrative support opportunities are available in one to two hour sessions or as needed during flexible daytime hours between 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM to support large mailing preparations: addressing, stuffing and stamping envelopes, filing, internet research and database updates. and miscellaneous office support.  For more information, call Amanda Blevins at 610-696-8090, ext. 210.

Special Events– The Development and Community Relations Committee seeks volunteers to support special events held by The Arc of Chester County throughout the year.  Events include the annual Achievement Walk, 5K Run and Fun Day held in April, Breakfast with Santa held the first Saturday in December, and other events held throughout the year.  These can be a one-day volunteer opportunity or event committee.  For more information, contact Kelli Martino 610-696-8090, ext. 210.
