Drivers - Reliable volunteers with valid driver’s licenses are needed to provide transportation to individuals with disabilities in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Generous mileage reimbursement is provided. Please contact Kari Burdeau at kburdeau@arcofchestercounty.org to learn more.
Puppeteers – Volunteers are needed to help The Arc present a disability awareness show for Chester County elementary school students. This is an ideal opportunity for a performer with daytime availability and an interest in entertaining children. For more information, call Cathy Binz at 610-696-8090, ext. 202.
Classroom Assistants – Two volunteers are needed to provide support to the ABBLE program, a classroom-based program for two-year-olds with autism located in Downingtown. Availability most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 12:00pm and a Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance are required. For more information, call Kathy Fox at 610-696-8090 ext. 339.
Advocacy Program Volunteers – Volunteers are needed to help advocacy programs in a variety of capacities. Many of these tasks can be completed at home with the option of working from The Arc’s West Chester office. Opportunities include updating a monthly e-newsletter and assisting with its distribution and serving as a special education advocate. Committee Members – The Arc has numerous committees that need the expertise of volunteers from the community. Committees usually meet monthly during night or daytime hours convenient to the members. Some areas of need include people with human resources skills to assist the personnel committee; accountants or financial analysts to assist the finance committee; and marketers or fundraisers to assist the community relations and development committees. Recreation Assistance – The recreation program seeks volunteers of all ages to assist with weekly social gatherings on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings based at The Arc’s facility in West Chester. Opportunities are available for weekend activities that include dances, dinners, sporting events, community outings, and other fun-filled entertainment.
