Thank You for Achieving with Us.
2016-2017 ANNUAL REPORT

Message from the President

During the past two years there has been a resurgence of energy and strategic focus at The Arc of Chester County.

The Board and staff have worked with our members, volunteers and community partners to efficiently manage limited resources in order to deliver high quality services that support our mission to: “advocate, educate, and provide services to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to enhance the quality of their lives”. Inclusion in the community, in school, home, and work has been a mission priority while we strengthen and build the services most needed by the individuals and families we support.

The board and management team focused efforts on stabilizing the agency infrastructure and took important steps to ensure staff received recognition for the valued work they do each day as they embraced and fulfilled our mission. Due to responsible fiscal management, a dedicated board and staff, and our loyal donors and community partners we were able to accomplish some important goals in these areas this year. We know our work needs to continue and are confident that progress will continue due to your loyal and dedicated support.

Each year we also set a goal to exceed our participant’s expectations! This year our recent satisfaction survey showed that 96% of those who responded to the survey felt that The Arc of Chester County service(s) improved or enhanced the quality of the lives. We look forward to achieving 100%!

With the continued help of community partners like you and our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we were able to empower and enhance the quality of life for over 3,000 individuals and families again this year. Thank you for your thoughtful and generous support!

Sincerely,

D. Lee Signature

Employment

lauren

After attending a transition program and graduating from high school in 2001 Lauren Riordan landed her first job at Genuardi’s in Chesterbrook, one of The Arc’s 200 community businesses partnered with The Arc’s Comprehensive Employment Services (CES) program. In 2010 Genuardi’s was closing so Lauren decided to search for a new job and within one month, with job support from the CES program, found a new job at TJMaxx in Devon working in merchandising. The job is a perfect fit for Lauren and her skills; she is proud that she always meets the job requirements and is often praised by her supervisor for doing so.

Lauren rarely misses work, except for vacations with her parents. Lauren enjoys working and is respected and well-liked by her coworkers and has received the Employee of the Month award as voted by her coworkers. This past summer, Lauren was also honored, among other employees, for five years of service at TJMaxx.
CES collaborates with many community partners (employers) who recognize the talents of the people The Arc works with and realize how much they have to contribute to the workplace. TJMaxx received The Arc’s annual Employer of the Year Award in 2005 and has been employing Arc CES participants since the programs started 15 years ago.

Invest in The Arc

With your gift, The Arc of Chester County will continue our work to protect the rights of people with disabilities and support their full inclusion and participation in the community.

All gifts are important to The Arc of Chester County, regardless of their size or method.

Make an outright gift using cash, check or credit card. You can see the results of your generosity immediately. Recurring giving options are available.

Make an online donation though our secure website.

Make an In-Kind donation.

Ask your employer for a matching gift to increase your contribution.

Make a workplace donation to The United Way.

Undesignated gifts allow The Arc to invest in the programs which have the most need. If you have a personal connection to a certain program, gifts may be restricted to that program or service.

Remember The Arc with a gift of stock which may benefit the donor as well as The Arc.

Consider leaving a legacy gift to The Arc:

  • To help sustain The Arc for the needs of the future, think about leaving The Arc in your will.
  • You can designate The Arc as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement assets.
  • Consider a life income gift such as a charitable remainder trust. Such a gift will allow you to benefit The Arc while providing you with tax savings and income for you or someone you love.
