Thank You for Achieving with Us.
2015-2016 ANNUAL REPORT

Message from the President

It is an honor for me to share the The Arc of Chester County’s successful 2015 – 2016 fiscal year made possible by the generous and thoughtful support of donors like you. I am pleased to report that The Arc of Chester County has continued its strong history of ending the fiscal year responsibly. Your gifts of money, time, talent, and volunteerism make all of the difference in helping us forward our mission to advocate, educate, and provide services to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to enhance the quality of their lives.

During my first year as President, the Board of Directors, Executive Director Jeanne Meikrantz and the staff, spent considerable time taking an objective look at all of the services The Arc annually provides over 3,000 individuals with disabilities and their families. We wanted to make sure we were using our resources effectively and that the services aligned with our mission. We focused on exceeding our participants and families expectations, maximizing inclusion, and advocating strongly for equal rights. With your support and generosity I can assure you that together we have achieved success.

I wish to express my gratitude for all of your dedication and commitment to indiviuals with disabilities and to let you know we will always compassionately guide people of all abilities, to reach for, and achieve, their greatest potential.

Thank you for being a member of The Arc of Chester County community – it truly means the world to us and to those we support.

Sincerely,

D. Lee Signature

lauren

After attending a transition program and graduating from high school in 2001 Lauren Riordan landed her first job at Genuardi’s in Chesterbrook, one of The Arc’s 200 community businesses partnered with The Arc’s Comprehensive Employment Services (CES) program. In 2010 Genuardi’s was closing so Lauren decided to search for a new job and within one month, with job support from the CES program, found a new job at TJMaxx in Devon working in merchandising. The job is a perfect fit for Lauren and her skills; she is proud that she always meets the job requirements and is often praised by her supervisor for doing so.

Lauren rarely misses work, except for vacations with her parents. Lauren enjoys working and is respected and well-liked by her coworkers and has received the Employee of the Month award as voted by her coworkers. This past summer, Lauren was also honored, among other employees, for five years of service at TJMaxx.
CES collaborates with many community partners (employers) who recognize the talents of the people The Arc works with and realize how much they have to contribute to the workplace. TJMaxx received The Arc’s annual Employer of the Year Award in 2005 and has been employing Arc CES participants since the programs started 15 years ago.

Invest in the Arc

With your gift, The Arc of Chester County will continue our work to protect the rights of people with disabilities and support their full inclusion and participation in the community.

All gifts are important to The Arc of Chester County, regardless of their size or method.

Make an outright gift using cash, check or credit card. You can see the results of your generosity immediately. Recurring giving options are available.

Make an online donation though our secure website.

Ask your employer for a matching gift to increase your contribution.

Make a workplace donation to The United Way.

Undesignated gifts allow The Arc to invest in the programs which have the most need. If you have a personal connection to a certain program, gifts may be restricted to that program or service.

Remember The Arc with a gift of stock which may benefit the donor as well as The Arc.

Consider leaving a legacy gift to The Arc:

  • To help sustain The Arc for the needs of the future, think about leaving The Arc in your will.
  • You can designate The Arc as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement assets.
  • Consider a life income gift such as a charitable remainder trust. Such a gift will allow you to benefit The Arc while providing you with tax savings and income for you or someone you love.
